How we work with other sports organisations

The Commission's main job is to help sports bodies by providing advice and funding, so they can develop their sport for their members and achieve international success.

As well as sports bodies we provide funding to organisations such as the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre, the Scouts and the YWCA, and this funding is to enable them to organise and run outdoors and wilderness activities or other physical activities such as aerobics.

Sports organisations such as the NZ Sports Assembly, the Sport Science and Technology Board, Coaching New Zealand, Sports Medicine NZ, the NZ Recreation Association, and the NZ Sports Turf Institute, perform valuable services to sport bodies and athletes. Most of these organisations receive funding from the Hillary Commission and the Sporst Foundation to assist them.
