Funding Local Sport

Through the Community Sport Fund the Hillary Commission provided funding to 4,599 sports clubs through the following local authorities. Rural local authorities receive a guaranteed minimum of $25,000 to enable them to meet the special needs of their community clubs.

Criteria
Non-profit organisations can apply for Community Sport Funding through local authorities. New Zealand based projects with a sport, fitness and leisure component are eligible so long as the organisation can contribute a significant part of the total cost. Coach and volunteer training is the priority of the fund. Clubs wanting to form a close sporting link with one or more school are particularly welcome to apply.
